Editing negatives in Photoshop consists of using the clone stamp, spot healing tool and the sharpening. It didn't take long to get this done, with me knowing how to edit already. The only problem I had was with the water that if I cloned the wrong area the duplication of that area did not look right.
This is the original photo before editing, you can see marks and scratches on the water in the ground and in the sky. To get rid of the ones in the sky I mainly used the spot healing brush, but in the water mainly used the clone stamp as had more control over what was cloned.
This was after cloning and also after sharpening you sharpen by duplicating the layer, go to filter at the top of the screen, and go to other and select highpass. Then change the slider to you desired sharpness making sure not to sharpen it to much, so it looks to fake. Then go to where the layers are and select the down bar and change it to overlay
These are what all the layers will look like, you can see the sharpen layer has the highpass layer over it, the overlay changes it to a different opacity.
This is my final photo, you can see the scratches have gone, which makes the photo look alot better. I also have slightly sharpened the photo, to make the details in the photo sharper. This overall added to the photo, making it look abit more in focus.
Other ways to edit:
Rulers -
They help guide you where to edit as you go square by square. This especially comes in handy when spot healing, as you know what area you have already retouched.
To get the rulers you to go view at the top of the screen and then press rulers, or use the shortcut command-R. Then drag from the side when you want the lines to be.
Patch tool:
To use the patch tool, go to the tool bar on the left hand side, and select in from the 7th section down. Then go around the area you would like to fill. Then go to edit, fill.
It will then come up with the content aware box, just press ok.
As you can see from the area I chose, there if too much information around it, for it work. It has places things in the wrong area like the grass on the bench. You do always need to be careful with the tool, as it can easily go wrong.
